Table Fan

It is surprising how little we know about ourselves and how we do not make knowing ourselves a top priority in our lives. I have struggled to sleep in a room at my parents' house for six months. The room has a fan that does not work as per specifications, an AC that is an overachiever and makes the room extremely cold and a window that never grew up. I have not slept more than eight hours in this room at a stretch since my parents moved here a year back. I knew the temperature was an issue but never bothered to solve it.

Yesterday to solve the problem for my wife, I decided its time to buy a Table Fan. Always easier to solve for others than for ourselves.

We went to the nearby Croma store, selected the Bajaj Table Fan (with a stand), and got it back to the house. We had to assemble it.

I am someone who outsources all the jobs a 'man' is supposed to be comfortable doing. I do not have the patience to choose the right tools for the job, sit with the job for hours and then figure out how to fix using a poorly made instructional manual. You can call me lazy or someone who cannot do basic things, and I will be okay with that.

An hour before my next call, I decided to attempt to fix up the fan with my wife. It took us 50+ minutes to do it. We messed up a lot and were stuck at a few places but collectively did it. I was happy to give up midway and use work excuses to get away from the task. I stuck to it and finished it. The sense of accomplishment was incredible.

A room with wooden flooring, an AC, a window in the corner, a troubled fan a humble table fan helped me sleep for more than eight hours last night.
