Moving to Chennai

So why am I moving to Chennai? Many people have asked, and I'm here to explain. In May 2020, Chargebee employees were notified that we'd be working remotely due to COVID. We weren't sure for how long. When we realised, there was no return date, my wife, Preeti, and I decided to return to our hometowns to live with our parents. We drove from Chennai to Narayankhed in our car, Swift Desire, with 20 litres of water and home-cooked meals, obtaining permission to cross state borders.

We arrived in Narayankhed and immediately focused on caring for my father, who suffered from diabetic foot ulcers. Preeti stayed with her parents while my father's health stabilised. Work became a good distraction from personal matters during this time.

Eventually, Preeti and I decided it was essential to live together. We chose Bidar and rented a place close to her parent's home. We also went on an Airbnb hopping adventure in various cities like Goa, Amritsar, Jaipur, and Dharamkot.

We planned to return to Chennai in 2022, but we discovered Preeti was pregnant in January of that year. We focused on preparing for our baby's birth while living with her family. Meanwhile, my parents moved to Hyderabad, so I spent time between the two places.

In September 2022, my father passed away unexpectedly due to sepsis. Just 25 days later, our daughter was born. Life became a whirlwind of emotions and adjustments.

Considering the circumstances, we didn't move back to Chennai immediately. Instead, we stayed with Preeti's family for support. However, now that life is more stable and we've completed the construction of our house in Gulbarga, we're ready for a change.

Our social life has suffered during this period, and we don't want to stay in a small town or Hyderabad without an office nearby. Both Preeti and I love Chennai, which has been kind to us and significantly strengthened our bond.

With our daughter, Mudra, in mind, we want a safe city with good educational opportunities and exposure to diverse cultural aspects. Chennai fits the bill, and there's a workplace for me. So, we'll be moving back to Chennai in October this year, hoping for a fresh start.

We're returning to Chennai to reclaim the life we left behind three years ago.
